Newly aquired 1999 Chevy Blazer 4x4, 4 door has arrived to replace my 2 door 2wd 1986 Chevy Blazer
-
---------- Owner let it go CHEAP!!! - basically gave it to me! I couldn't pass this up! I figured what the heck, if nothing else and all fails, there are a
ton of parts for my Wife's Gray 2000 Chevy blazer.... This has 194,204 miles on it.... I have a couple options....
Hopefully the 4.3L Vortec V6 is simply rebuildable... Would like a tad bit better fuel mileage..... I also have 2 nice fairly fresh
rebuilt chevy v8 engines that I could slide one of my choice into this with a few mods.... Would cost about the same no matter if I rebuild the
V6 or do the mods for the V8.... Either works for me though...

Check engine light never came on for the previous owner, before engine started making noises, and purred like a kitten
and never missed a lick...... but for grins, and peace of mind, I put a scanner up to the OBD2 and everything looks good, so no troubles there.....

Put the newly aquired Blazer into the shop on 1-06-11
(has a slight knocking noise originating from the cranshaft/oilpan area... really slight, nothing
major that can't be fixed from my experience of noises...... going to look at the contents of oil filter, to get a preliminary diagnosis)

settled contents of the disassembled oil filter stirred up and put into a pop bottle and left to
sit over night..... (nice glittery settle-out..... looks like a rebuild is in order)
Will have to pull engine , and see what is in the bottom of the oil pan and then see what
the crank rod & main journals look like next....
Penzoil Oil Filter... well, we won't discuss that..... but it's the reason I don't use this brand myself!

Inside shots of 1999 Blazer after cleaning carpets the first time with the Bissel "Little Green" upholstery cleaner....
(((Flooring was just about black and stained with stuff I couldn't even begin to identify!))) (also... a few more exterior shots for the record...)
